Leaving a gift in your will is an incredible way to continue having an impact in the lives of vulnerable young people.

As we consider the legacy we want to leave, the things we value and the injustices we’ve stood up against in our lives, we start to get a picture of the things that are truly important.

Things like taking care of our loved ones come at the top of the list. We understand that.

For those who connect with the work here at Springboard, we’d suggest there are other things that are important to you, too.

It’s seeing young people have a place where they are loved, where they belong and where they experience family.

It’s equipping young people through counselling, with tools to process and move on from traumatic experiences.

It’s education, but not how it looks for most kids.

It’s preparing young people to stand on their own two feet and live lives of purpose and value that contradict the story they grew up with, or the words spoken over them.

Te Pūtake means the root, the base, the origin, the place where something begins.

Te Pūtake Legacy Gifts are a way to create new beginnings, and a hope-filled future, for a young person who needs it most.

A legacy gift means you continue to create a place where young people are embraced, supported and encouraged to make a difference in their world.

Whether it’s a small percentage or a specific amount, your gift continues the kind of work that changes lives, strengthens whānau, and brings hope to places where it’s needed most.

Your gift becomes part of the foundation for:

  • Alternative education and support for young people who need a helping hand

  • Wraparound services for whānau in need

  • Skill-building, connection, employment and hope for our young people

  • Future development of our land to be a blessing to our community

If you connect with the Springboard story, and you want to help write the next chapter, we'd love to chat with you.

Did you know only 55% of New Zealanders have a will?

If you don’t have a will, and you’d like to write one, we’ve teamed up with GatheredHere to give you access to write a will for free. You can read more in the link below.

Leaving a gift is simple.

We always recommend speaking to a lawyer or using a trusted will service.

We also encourage you to talk with your loved ones about your legacy, and any gifts you wish to make.

Suggested wording:

“I give [insert amount, percentage or residue] of my estate to Springboard Community Works (Charity No. CC21380), to be used for its general purposes.”

You can choose to leave:

  • A percentage of your estate

  • A specific amount

  • What’s left after your loved ones are provided for

You can change your will at any time, and your decision will always remain private unless you choose to tell us.

If you choose to leave a legacy gift in your will, and you’d be open to telling others about why you made that choice, we’d love to chat. Your legacy impact could be the starting point for others to give consideration to their legacy, too.
